I’m writing a stage lighting app that needs to work on Mac & Windows. I’m currently using Qt but the more I learn about C++ the more I want to use something else.
Avalonia is something else. More than that, it’s something that uses C# not C++. If you don’t understand what that means - well, it’s important.
I read this (and this!) and they made me think Avalonia is worth a look. Their docs look good, and they have Awesome Avalonia which has a bunch of useful links. Also, I found this app which does UDP and selecting a network, both of which I’ll need.
So … it’s not a done deal just yet, but there’s every chance I’ll ditch Qt and move to Avalonia. When I get a bit of spare time to look at it. If I ever get spare time again.
PS - maybe don’t tell my psychologist about this. I’m pretty good at over-committing, and the poor woman is suffering enough already. ;-)
